Anatomy of an Office Visit

LIVE STREAMING VIA ZOOM MEETING

February 25, 2025
5:45 PM – 9:00 PM EST

Fee: $35

When interpreting, context matters. We understand our role as interpreters and we know what like to be a patient, but we don’t always understand the context of the medical encounter in which we’re interpreting. This workshop is designed to get you a behind the scenes look at how medical encounters are structured, why health professionals ask the question they ask, and more.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this workshop, participants will:

  • Understand the names and roles of the various professionals in the healthcare system. (WHO)
  • Explain the different types of health care encounters where patients and health care professionals meet. (WHEN)
  • Give examples of various health care settings and their utilization.
    (WHERE and WHY)
  • Recognize the components of a typical health care encounter. (WHAT)
  • Describe the process of diagnosis and treatment of illness and maintenance of health. (HOW)
  • Identify common challenges when interpreting in the medical setting.
